Formation of Chicagoland Nepali
Pariwar (CNP) as a non-profit
organization:
We
reached a consensus that CNP would
be registered on the week of July 5th
with the IL Secretary of State as a
non-profit organization. The
following executive members have
been appointed as part of the
“interim committee”:
President: Rabin Pradhan
Gen Secretary: Sanjay
Shrestha
Treasurer: David Seaman
Sharda Thapa and Rajeev Dahal will
take the initiatives in preparing
the documents for registration.
Once completed, Sanjay Shrestha will
register with the IL Secretary of
State.
Once
this process is completed, David
Seaman and Sanjay Shrestha will open
a bank account on behalf of CNP –
both will have authority to sign
checks on behalf of CNP.
All
present members agreed that CNP will
aggressively scout for prospective
members and exec members. CNP will
also consist of various
sub-committees with specialized
focus & tasks:
External
Affairs Committee
Cultural &
Social Committee
Sports
Committee
Student
Affairs Committee
Immigration
/ Legal Committee
Business &
Employment Committee
Fundraising
Committee
These are some of the committees we
have in mind, and will evolve over
time – depending on the needs of
CNP members. The objective of these
various sub-committees is to help
Nepalis in Chicagoland, as well as
Nepalis back home.
CNP
is actively seeking out to members
who would be interested in being
part of CNP by adding value in the
various areas:
Website maintenance
Events Coordinator
Executive Committee
Sub-committees

Hosting SurSudha Concert
a)
CNP on behalf of NAC has
agreed to host the SurSudha Concert
in Chicago on July 31st,
2004. The issues were addressed
as follows:

Tickets:
600
tickets were printed on June 26th
- designed by Rabin Pradhan.
Tickets will be sold by
individual members as well as thru
designated sales centers (Mt.
Everest Restaurant, Himalayan
Restaurant, Al Mansoor Video,
Atlantic Video, Dollar Buy Plus).

Sound System:
To
be arranged by David Seaman.
d)
Volunteers:
We
are seeking volunteers to help with
Ticket checking, Seat assignments,
and reception – roughly about 12
volunteers required.
e)
Parking:
Parking will be available to general
audience at a discounted rate -
location and rate to be determined
soon. Rabin Pradhan will finalize
it soon
f)
Snacks & beverage:
Our
CNP member, Rahi Gurung has accepted
to host the Snack & Beverage booth –
which will consists of
authentic Nepali appetizers: Momo,
Aloo-achar, etc. Beverages will be
limited to soda and wine.
**Second CNP Meeting will be held in
the second week of July – an email
will be sent to finalize the date &
venue.
