Chicagoland Nepali Pariwar Annual Report 2007

October 2nd, 2007

As a new Dashain season rolls around Chicagoland Nepali Pariwar (CNP) has decided to institute an annual report to be sent out at this time each year. This year we are kicking off with a recap of four years of CNP and requesting candidates for the election of Executives, in April 2008, to carry on the proud traditions of CNP.

CNP is registered with the State of Illinois as a not-for-profit organization with no affiliation to any political institutions, religious institutions and/or parties. We are an affiliate of Association of Nepalese in Midwest America (ANMA), a not-for-profit tax exempt 501 (c) (3) organization of Nepalese and friends of Nepal in North America founded in 1982 in Chicago and incorporated as organization in Ohio in 1989. We are represented in the Nepalese Americas Council (NAC) through ANMA, and with the global Non-Resident Nepali Association through NAC.

Our objectives are to facilitate social and charitable activities; to provide aid to its members and friends; to preserve and promote Nepalese culture and heritage; to help the development of Nepal and to foster relationships with other Organizations with similar objectives. We are committed to working for the betterment of the Nepali Community in Chicagoland, while extending our support to the Nepali Diaspora in North America, and help Nepal. In addition, CNP was the local host for the ANMA Conventions in 2003 and 2006. CNP participated in musical performances at O'Hare in two Unity Month events sponsored by the Chicago Department of Aviation and a dance Performance at Navy Pier for a Holiday Festival for the City of Chicago.

Recently we received several inquires from people who confused CNP Chicagoland Nepali Pariwar with Chicagoland Nepali Friendship Society (CNFS), a new organization which includes some members of CNP. Unfortunately, the name, which is similar to CNP, appears to have caused this. We would like to clarify that CNFS is a different Organization. However, given CNP's goals and objectives and history of cooperation with other Organizations for the betterment of the Nepalese diaspora we extend our cooperation to CNFS as well and wish them success.

CNFS is organizing a Dashain Nite this year and we request all CNP members to attend this event. Have a great Dashain everyone!
