About us

Chicagoland Nepali Pariwar (CNP) is a not-for-profit social and charitable organization of Nepalis and friends of Nepal in Chicago and vicinity; with no affiliation to any political and/or religious institutions. Comprised of over 4000 members, the organization is highly diverse: students, professionals, families, and workers. For many years, CNP maintained its existence as an informal organization, however, it was only on September 2004 did it become a full-fledged organization registered with the State of Illinois.

CNP bears its affiliation with the Association of Nepalese in Midwest America(ANMA), an organization of Nepalese and friends of Nepal in North America founded in 1982 in Chicago, Illinois and subsequently incorporated as a not-for-profit tax exempt organization in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1989.

CNP has adopted the ANMA mission of promoting, coordinating, and facilitating close cooperation among Nepalis and friends of Nepal in North America, particularly in the Midwest Region of the United States, for maintaining and fostering Nepali identity and cultural heritage.

As a not-for-profit social/charitable organization the objectives are:

  • to coordinate, facilitate, and promote social and charitable activities among its members and friends;
  • to provide aid and help to its members and friends;
  • to preserve, nurture, and promote Nepalese culture and heritage;
  • to strengthen and foster relationships with other Organizations with similar objectives.
